1. Gen Zero
Gen Zero is a youth-for-sustainability program dedicated to placing Vietnamese youth at the forefront of climate action. Recognizing the critical role of young people in addressing climate change, particularly in a nation as vulnerable as Viet Nam, Gen Zero aims to bridge the gap between youth potential and effective policy engagement.
Vision: A future where Vietnamese youth are leading climate action, shaping policy, and driving sustainable solutions.
Mission: To empower Vietnamese youth as pivotal climate contributors through enhanced awareness, education, and policy involvement, fostering strategic collaborations for lasting global impact.
Key Activities:
Policy Awareness & Capacity Building: Gen Zero provides targeted training, resources, and platforms to demystify climate policy, enabling youth to understand and influence key frameworks like the Paris Agreement and Viet Nam's national strategies (NDCs, NAPs).
National & International Participation: Facilitating pathways for youth to engage in national and international climate forums, including COP, and contribute to national climate commitments.
Media & Advocacy: Developing youth-focused media strategies to amplify youth voices, raise awareness, and promote climate action.
2. Viet Nam Youth Climate Empowerment Pathway (VYCEP)
VYCEP is Gen Zero's core program for 2025, designed to equip young Vietnamese leaders with the tools and opportunities to engage with climate policy and action.
Target Audience: Primarily university students (18-24), with outreach to high school students (15-18), international changemakers, and marginalized youth.
Key Phases:
Phase I: Kick-Off (May-July):
Stakeholder Roundtable: Fosters dialogue and collaboration among youth agencies, government, international organizations, and experts.
Awareness Tours & Capacity Building: Raises awareness and equips youth with essential skills for policy engagement.
Phase II: Action (August-September):
Mock COP Competition: Simulates COP negotiations, enabling youth to develop and propose policy recommendations.
Capacity Accelerator: provides in-depth training to those who have been shortlisted in the mock COP competition.
Phase III: Elevate (October-November):
Viet Nam Youth Climate Summit: Showcases youth-led solutions, presents the Viet Nam Youth Statement (VYS), and promotes national and international participation, including COP30.
National to International Climate Participation: Selects and trains a youth delegation for COP30, and related engagement events.
Key Outcomes:
Enhanced youth understanding of climate policy and engagement processes.
Increased youth participation in national and international climate forums.
Development of the Viet Nam Youth Statement (VYS).
Strengthened partnerships between youth, government, organizations, and the private sector.
Increased public awareness of youth-led climate action.
3. Job Description: Program Manager, Gen Zero & VYCEP
Job Title: Program Manager

Job Summary: The Program Manager plays a crucial role in maximizing program impact through effective coordination, implementation, and financial management of Gen Zero's initiatives. This position requires a proactive individual to ensure alignment with project goals, cultivate strong partnerships, and support logistical needs. The Program Manager will be based in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) and may be required to work on-site during events.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning & Implementation:
Collaboratively plan, coordinate, and monitor program activities across all phases, providing strategic input on youth engagement and climate action priorities to ensure effective implementation.
Work closely with teams in developing detailed work plans, meeting project timelines and budgets, and aligning individual plans with overall deliverables.
Financial Management:
Develop and manage program budgets, ensuring compliance with project objectives, donor agreements, Vietnamese regulations, and sponsor requirements.
Support the Director in preparing for donor pitches and developing funding proposals.
Partnership Support:
Act as the main point of contact for project partners, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
Support the development and maintenance of partnerships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, international organizations, climate action NGOs/communities, and public figures.
Communication & Reporting:
Regular planned meetings with partners, donors, and partners to discussion on action items and status.
Project monitoring and control of the project timeline and budget.
Project report preparation.
Logistical Support:
Coordinate necessary logistical arrangements for partners, events, and program activities.
Assist in preparing other materials needed (MOU, terms, etc.).
Requirements:
Proven project leadership and management in youth empowerment, climate action, or sustainable development.
Demonstrated interest and knowledge in climate action and youth engagement, with a foundation in related academic or practical experience.
Expertise in planning, implementing, and evaluating projects from start to finish.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with government, civil society, and local communities.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills in both English and Vietnamese.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with adaptability for flexible hours and ad-hoc requests.
Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
Event management experience and HCMC on-site availability.
Ability to start by the first week of May.
